Stillorgan 10 - 7 Monkstown
Playing with a completely different back row, Stillorgan ran out winners in a battling display of courage and heart. Stillorgan got off to a bad start by losing the toss. Despite this setback, good running by forwards and backs put early pressure on Monkstown. Following great work by the pack and quick hands by the backs, Alan McD was put into space and this Roscommon thoroughbred doesn't need to be asked twice. Running the whole length of the opposition twenty two for a stunning try. This was duely converted by Alan S.
Monkstown responded quickly by mauling a try in from close range which was converted. Resolute defence by both teams ensured no further scores in the half. Stillorgan started the second half temporarily down to fourteen men as Conor B was feeling the effects of a late night yellow curry. His impressive sprint to the clubhouse had to be seen to be believed.
Second half was nip and tuck with good perfomaces by Fabien and Simon in the pack and a lively performance by the Roscommon thoroughbred on the wing. With five minutes to go Stillorgan were awarded a penaly and a brave decision by the captain to go for goal was rewarded when Alan S put the ball over for the winning three points. Stillorgan held out to the final whistle for their first win of the season.
