Stillorgan 32 - De la Salle Palmerstown 21

First home match of the season ends with a 5 try victory for Stillorgan. Stillorgan opened the first half the stronger and built up a strong lead early on with tries from Alan Stewart and Octavio Hernandez which came from fast movement of ball from the forwards into the backs. Fast running newcomer Finian O'Driscoll Finn who ran half the length of the field to score his try got the third of the half. As in previous games SRFC played their open running game well and led at half time 18 - 7.

De La Salle were the stronger in the second half and came back at SRFC particularly in the rucks. Despite this SRFC managed to bag another 2 tries, one from Evan Shea at Scrum half where he picked from the base of the scrum and ran over from 7 yards. SRFC final try is a bit of a mystery to me. Reports of one of our players falling up 50 yards on a long kick down field and pouncing on a fumbled attempt by the DLSP full back to score a try are unbelievable to say the least. But however it did apparently happen. But the Ref was a long distance away and couldn't identify who actually downed the ball and all he heard was "well done Fergus". The only fergus in the club I know who could run that distance is Fergus O'Neill so well done. Overall a good victory with great play from the backs, improved lineouts and scrums and some work needed yet in the rucks and mauls.

Man of the Match - Finian Finn. Other strong performers include Ger Hensey, Richard Doyle and Fergus Cahill.
