Stillorgan 2-0 Millmount
Millmount started as expected very aggresively and held SRFC out for over 10 mins. SRFC impatience showed and with plenty of running rugby particularly from the backs they carved out a try from volumptous outhalf Mattie (who ignored a 5 man overlap outside him). As mercurial scrum-half Evan had come come straight to the game from an all night rave, he was taken off early as rumors spread that the Leinster branch were undertaking random drug testing.
Soon after the curvacious Kiwi scambled in for a second try (and ignored a 5 man overlap outside him) 5 mins from time to earn SRFC a hard fought victory.
Stillorgan 1-0 Trinity
Nerves and impatience were evident in the first fixture and this continued in the second game with SRFC applying most of the pressure throughout with plenty of ball being recycled but little to show for the pressure on the scoreboard. Eventually the deadlock was broken with a try from Mattie (who ignored a 5 man overlap outside him) just before the final whistle.
Stillorgan 1-0 Bective
Similar game flow to the last one with Bective opting for uncontested scrums and SRFC applying plenty of pressure and eventually got a well deserved try from Ger "10.6seconds" Hensey with time to spare. Mark Madigan (playing at hooker) again showed that football in West Clare is a alive and well with a deceptive Garryowen landing behind him.
Stillorgan 3-0 Monkstown
Despite the wide pitch this game was dominated by the forwards with all three tries coming from them. Namely new boy Tunny with his trademark crash ball over 3 bodies, Nigel with again a tradmark 2.5 yard run in 10 seconds, and Jerry with a cocky fist in the air salute (preceded by a sublime pass from Leo to set him up) as he nearly went over the dead ball line again (for all new members Jerry 3 years ago forgot to put the ball down and ran over the dead ball line against Parkmore. Please remind him of this — he loves talking about it).
Good performances were also seen off the pitch in O'Sheas, The Barge and then Copperface Jacks (I think) by new boy Tunny who liked showing us his chest and weird dancing. Welcome aboard Tunny.
