J3 League - Dec 07, 2003
SRFC were beaten yesterday at home for the first time in 14 months and the first time at home to senior club in a long time.
SRFC started strongly with good play from forwards and backs ending in a touch in the corner from Alan Stewart but the Greystones linesman deemed him to be in touch. Greystones started to gain control later in the half and notched up 3 penalties with SRFC again coming close on 3 penalties with one hitting the posts again.
With the wind in their backs in the second half SRFC were to push greystones hard but to little avail. Greystones secured the only try of the game 15 minutes into the second half in break away sprint from a block down. This was a well drilled Greystones side who did the basics very well. SRFC fought bravely throughout the second half and recorded a panalty to put them within 11 points and pushed hard to try salvage a bonus point in what was a relatively tight game throughout despite what story the scoreline may have told. Greystones finished the evening with a penalty in front of the posts.
