Stillorgan 0 - Greystones 16

The Leinster branch referee arrived this week, and we faced Greystones in our first league game of the season.
After a nervous fifteen minutes for both teams, the stalemate eventually was ended by a dodgy linesman decision which gave Greystones the first score of the game from a penalty - the ball in fact went one and a half miles wide. The pressure was then re-applied by the stones, and they converted another penalty before half time to go into the second half with a 6 - 0 lead.
The only thing that Stillorgan could not do well in the second half of the game was score points, and if we did, the reality is that it may well have led to the final result being very different. The stones scored a penalty in front of the posts half way through the half, and then scored a very hard worked try, which they converted, close to the end of the game. All in all, not a bad start to the league campaign, but disappointing for all concerned that we did not get our name on the scoring sheet. We need to get as good at attacking as we are at defending.
It is vitally important we get down training as a team this week. Make it your business to get down for tomorrow night, but if you just cannot make that, get down Thursday night to go through the moves for the last league game of 2003.
