Stillorgan 8 - Greystones 15

J4 Cup Round 1 - Apr 07, 2004

A titanic battle took place last night in Bird Avenue. Probably said this a few times already this season but a brave display that nearly brought us to victory but just wasn't enough on the night. Little or nothing between the sides right throughout and there was never going to be more then a score between the two sides.

First to score were the stone throwers with a soft try in the corner. Stillorgan quickly reponded and scored from a well called, practised an executed move in the corner. Londonderry ball to the bull finally worked for the first time ever. And the sides were level. It was hard fought from here on with nothing between the sides. Second half commenced with SRFC leading the way scoring a penalty from new boy Eddie Hassett. Stone throwers upped in the last 20 and drew level with a penalty. Huge pressure from there rolling maul followed but the line was not be breached until finally a stumbling stoner slipped through to score under the posts with 5 mins on the clock. Try as we might the equalising score was not to come.
