J5 Cup - Apr 13, 2007
Forget about the scoreline, this was a tremendous performance by our J5 team. Wanderers fielded a team of ex Connacht, Leinster and AIL players. Maybe we were intimidated by this as we gave away a penalty and a converted try in the first ten minutes. Actually Wanderers had a lot of the play in the first 30minutes with a 6ft 8 lineout jumper and an outhalf who kicked the ball 80yrds everytime. However we were standing up well to the cause. We were tackling hard against wave after wave of attacks by Wanderer but still we found ourselves down by 24 points at half time
The half time break gave us time to regroup and the second half was truely one of the finest battling performance since David took on Goliath. We upped the pace and got stuck in. Our pack took on more ball and the backs were finding gaps. We were rewarded were two tries and a penalty. However, Wanderers hit us for two sucker punch tries in reply. I'm purposely not naming any individuals as I couldn't honestly single out anyone. It was a true team performance. Thanks to players/squad members, backroom staff, supporters for their helping with the team.
The parish is alive and breathing fire !!
